Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack made him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
