Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group reach places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
