The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
