The tournament joins the US and Aussie Opens in employing video review systems.
Replay technology are set to arrive at The Championships this year.
Athletes will gain the ability to challenge certain decisions made by the official, mirroring the practice already in use at each of the American Grand Slam and the Aussie major.
This technology is slated for use on Centre Court and the number one court for the duration of the Championships and on the other four featured courts when they are staging singles matches.
This step follows just a season following the All England Club implemented ELC, which terminated the 147-year role of line judges.
Reviewable Decisions
Players cannot to challenge the accuracy of the ELC system, but they can request the official to review other decisions, such as:
- If a ball has bounced twice.
- If a ball touched an rival's racket or person on the way past.
- Possible interference end of a point.
Importantly, there is no cap on the amount of challenges a player can ask for.
Practical Application
A recent case took place in a recent tournament last week, where Daniil Medvedev used the video challenge against Jack Draper.
Draper admitted it was a difficult call for the official, but believed his rival had "played the rules quite well."
Official Aurelie Tourte viewed a video and determined Draper was responsible for hindrance, granting the rally to Medvedev.
Wider Implementation
This technology are not new for Grand Slams. The system was adopted at the US Open for two years and the Australian Open since 2025.
Additionally, it is becoming more common on the women’s WTA Tour, and by the coming year the men's ATP Tour plans to have video reviews implemented at all of its events.
Other Changes
Another change at Wimbledon 2025 involves the introduction of visual indicators on scoreboards to complement the audio calls from the electronic line calling system.
This addresses instances where fans have occasionally been uncertain if a ball was in or out.
In other news, with precisely 100 days to go until the beginning of the Championships, the AELTC have further revealed an increase in daily capacity at the qualifying competition in the qualifying venue.
